In 1987, Lorna graduated from the Glasgow School of Art with both honors and postgraduate degrees in embroidered and woven textile design. In 1988 She established a small business making stitched and collaged textiles for the home and sold her pillows and wall hangings in galleries and stores in the UK and North America, some of those stores include Liberty London and Bergdorf Goodman in NYC.During the 90's she also completed several large scale public art works for hospitals, libraries , mental health clinics and schools in and around London. Lorna left the UK in 2002 and traveled around the world with her geologist husband and their two small children until settling in 2012 in Vancouver. She now regularly exhibits at shows around Vancouver on Granville Island, and at stores on the East Coast. The colours and climate of British Columbia have inspired Lorna to replace the luscious silks she used in the 90's with wool melton, cotton and velvets. The people and cultures she encountered on her travels in Turkey, Borneo and South Africa, have inspired her whimsical colourful stitched portraits. Also, inspired by the beauty of nature, You will always find queen bees, leaves and an explosion of florals in lornas collages.

Oil Paint and Watercolour
READ MORE
Originally from Brighton, UK now living in Vancouver, Pip spent twenty years of her career working as a fashion textile designer, in surface pattern for card and giftware companies and in illustration. She sees the creative process linked in all fields, so naturally painting is for her an extension of these disciplines. Pip likes to produce both large and small canvas paintings and drawings in many mediums. Working intuitively, exploring colour and form using a variety of brushstrokes and different techniques to produce contemporary, abstract paintings. Inspired primarily from life, particularly flowers and gardens. I regularly exhibit my paintings at arts festivals and galleries.

Born in 1960 and raised in Brandon, Manitoba, I amused myself with various hobbies. I made flip-books and puppets, wrote stories, drew portraits, painted murals, and carved totem poles. Naturally, I turned to fine art as a career, attending the Alberta College of Art in Calgary Alberta and graduated from the Visual Communications program in 1984. My career has been made up of freelance illustrating, designing and ultimately a partner and senior creative director of a highly successful Vancouver advertising agency named Big House Communications. I have a garden railroad that keeps me young. I hate flying. I love cooking. I especially love Christmas. I jokingly say "I must have been an elf", It’s the only thing that explains my affinity and passion for developing Kenfolks, an assortment of handcrafted figures that I’ve been crafting since 1989. Some are traditional, some contemporary. Some represent the future while others go way back in time. I like to think of them as people I know, or would like to know. 2016 marked a milestone, I graduated to include full figure characters, creating maquettes that capture a moment from Christmas folklore or fictional classic stories. This art form has really brought my ideas to life. There is now an interaction of characters that is simply not possible with my line of hanging ornaments. I'm still passionate about the Christmas theme but hope to branch out and explore other ideas for my new-found creative expression
