The mixed media paintings that I've selected for Arts in the Garden all feature beautiful, one-of-a-kind colourful birds with bright and vivid colours that pop and command attention. The birds in my collages engage viewers through their stylized silhouettes and bold use of colour. The choice of colours imbues the birds with a joyful and dynamic quality, suggesting movement and vitality even though they are presented in stillness. I employ a consistently vibrant palette and a playful approach to form. The contrast between the luminous hues of the birds and the textured backgrounds instills a sense of visual tension that is both dynamic and harmonious. Each artwork embraces a similar collection of elements—silhouettes, vibrant colours, and textured backgrounds—while allowing room for exploration in compositional structure, such as the vertical stacking of birds or the incorporation of leaves. There is a playful aspect to my compositions that suggests a narrative of nature, movement, and whimsy. People will be drawn to the simple shapes and outlines and be delighted by the lively and dynamic compositions.
