Telling Traditions

Heritage Week 2022

One of the main goals of the North Shore Culture Compass is to reflect the diverse traditions, cultures, religions, and communities that span North Vancouver, West Vancouver, and part of the territory of the Squamish Nation and Tsleil-Waututh Nation.

Altogether Inclusive is the theme for Heritage Week 2022. We are happiest when we can be ourselves while celebrating our differences in experiences, backgrounds, and ways of thinking.

Traditions are an expression of cultural identity, providing insight into one’s history, religion, values, and society. They can be expressed in many ways: through stories, language, food, music, dance, lighting candles, decorating trees, and more.

The North Shore Culture Compass invites you to share your favourite tradition for a chance to win a day out on the North Shore and to be featured as part of an online exhibition. Your tradition may also find a permanent home on the North Shore Culture Compass!

Submissions extended to Mar 31, 2022
