About Arts Education

North Van Arts offers arts education in the form of courses, workshops, and camps programming for all ages, interests and abilities.

ABOUT ART EDUCATION

At North Van Arts, we believe in the intrinsic value of the arts in everyday life. Research shows that participating in the arts improves physical and mental health, reduces stress, and fosters a sense of connection to community. We support artists and learners of all experience levels, from ages 6 to 106, offering programs that inspire creativity, personal growth, and shared joy.

Camps for Children

Our Camp Creative programs run during Spring Break and Summer, Monday to Friday, at Maplewood House, a light-filled, forested space beside the Seymour River. Surrounded by nature and close to Maplewood Farm, campers (ages 6–11) explore visual arts, drama, music, textile arts, and nature-inspired projects, all while engaging in outdoor play and creative experimentation.

Led by a professional instructor, supported by two assistants and a team of passionate volunteers, each camp maintains a maximum of 12 participants per week to ensure personalized attention and encouragement. Since launching  Camp Creative has provided a space where children can get messy, play, and discover the joy of self-expression.

Youth and Adult Programs

Beyond camps, we offer weekend courses for youth and adults, including watercolour, life drawing, natural dye, and sketchbook workshops that invite you to play, experiment, and deepen your creative practice. We also host our popular CityScape Date Night Series on Thursdays.

Date Nights invite participants to explore new creative practices alongside local emerging and professional artists. Workshops have included textiles, sculpture, watercolour, digital art, creative writing, life drawing, kintsugi, and more. Many sessions use eco-friendly and accessible materials, making it easy to continue your creative practice at home long after the evening ends.

Our education programs are offered in-person at

at Maplewood House and CityScape Community Art Space.
