2-Day Intro to Watercolour (Beginner Level)

Sophia Longo thoughtfully designs this class to offer a gentle and encouraging introduction to watercolor painting for absolute beginners. Through guided exercises and hands-on practice, you’ll build a solid foundation and gain confidence for future explorations with this beautiful and fluid medium.

By the end of the 2 days, you’ll have a solid understanding of watercolor’s unique behavior, giving you the necessary foundation to continue your studies in our next watercolor classes starting Saturdays in October with Sophia.

What You Need to Bring:

Pencil: 1 pencil F or HB or mechanical pencil $2.20
Knead Eraser: $1.40
Paper Clips (Optional): 2 Bulldog paper clips $1.10 or Painter’s tape
100% cotton cold-pressed paper (1 sheet = 22”x30” 140lb) cut in 2 quarters and 4 eights or a 9×12″ watercolor paper pad. Recommended brands: Arches, Fabriano, BaoHongSaunders, Winsor & Newton.
- 1 Round brush No.2 or smaller
- 1 Round brush No.6 or bigger
- 1 Flat brush Hake or any flat watercolor brush ( to wet the paper)
- Sepia or Burnt Umber
- Ultramarine Blue
- Alizarin Crimson
- Lemon Yellow or Hansa Yellow Lemon or Cadmium yellow light
- Burnt Sienna (optional)
- Hardboard (Optional): Backboard masonite $5.90 or corrugated plastic sheets.
