Since its inception in February 2022, our monthly CityScape Date Night series has been a creative journey like no other. Every month, we’ve delved into a diverse range of artistic mediums, from acrylics to watercolors, upcycling to creative writing, Gelli printing, and drawing. More recently, we’ve expanded our offerings with exciting new workshops, including found object art, memory box creation, and more, ensuring there’s always something fresh and inspiring to explore. Whether you’re looking to rediscover your artistic side or try something completely unique, each Date Night promises a fresh creative experience for couples and friends alike.

About

“Celebrate resilience, imperfection, and the beauty of transformation through art.”

Discover the ancient Japanese art of Kintsugi, a method of repairing broken ceramics with gold to emphasize their cracks and history rather than hiding them. Led by Ilena a multi-disciplinary ceramic artist, writer, and theatre designer, this workshop invites you to embrace imperfection and impermanence through hands-on creativity.

In this workshop, you’ll learn a contemporary, food-safe approach to Kintsugi, working with provided materials to repair and embellish a small ceramic piece. With Ilena’s guidance, you’ll transform a broken object into a unique and beautiful work of art that tells its own story of repair and renewal.

What to Bring:
All materials (including a small broken dish for practice) will be provided. However, if you have a ceramic item that needs repairing, feel free to bring it along! At the end of the workshop, Ilena will offer personalized advice on how to restore your cherished piece.

Why Attend?

Kintsugi is more than an art form—it’s a philosophy that celebrates imperfection and renewal, encouraging us to find beauty in our flaws and the stories they tell. Whether you’re drawn to ceramics, storytelling, or the meditative practice of mending, this workshop offers a unique way to connect with art and mindfulness.
