About
Flower pounding, or tatakizome, is a Japanese textile technique that uses fresh flowers and leaves
to create printed patterns on fabric. This two-day workshop provides a hands-on introduction to the
art, science, and technical process of Flower Pounding. Participants will prepare cotton fabric and apply plant pigments to produce a 24” x 24” textile suitable for display, gifting, or wearable art.
The workshop is led by textile artist Daphne Woo, whose work combines reconnection and remembrance of self, though ecological awareness, and material-focused experimentation. Participants will gain foundational skills that can be applied to future projects at home.
Weekend Structure & Techniques
