Imagined Worlds: Sci-Fi, Fantasy & Horror Writing

Sarah Higgins
Online Class via Zoom
Mondays 7:00-8:00pm
May 17 – June 28, 2021 (no class May 24, 6 weeks)
Youth to Adult

This creative writing workshop will focus on speculative fiction (sci fi, fantasy, horror). Students will learn about the bones of speculative fiction and the practicalities of writing it. Each class will include a short prompt (to get the juices flowing), a lesson and a story-specific writing exercise. By the end of the class, students will have the first draft of a new speculative fiction story.

Writers will be encouraged to submit their story for feedback at the end of week 5. Week 6 will be a workshop, if people submit, and/or an open-mic (if they prefer sharing orally). Students can also request to receive written feedback.

Registration is per household. Feel free to grab a family member or roommate and take class together!
