Three artists pushed through traditional uses of these materials, exploring the potential in form, playing with the mediums’ constraints and qualities to present the tactile nature and true essence of each material.

Mapped: Exploring North Shore Culture

July 17 – September 5, 2020

This exhibition was designed to showcase the North Shore Culture Compass, a free online map connecting users to the rich cultural landscape of the North Shore. The North Shore Culture Compass is a hub of cultural assets within the North Shore Region: it aims to build audiences, drive tourism, fill gaps, and encourage partnerships to better highlight our rich cultural diversity. Culture and experience shape belief systems, education, the media, community development, and creative industries, which in turn influence our perception of place. It is essential to understand how these factors construct our interpretation of culture.

Patterns of the City

October 16 – November 14, 2020

Martha Jablonski-Jones, John Steil, Judy Villett, Ellen Bang, Alex Francheville, Amelia Guimarin, Sarinah Haba, and Amanda Niekamp.

Dominated by a rectilinear landscape of roads, North American cities are characterized by low-density suburbia, strip-malls, and big-box development. In this exhibition, the artists investigate our urban environment and zoom in on the peculiarities, street life, texture, and architectural styles within the grid-like structure synonymous with new world development.
