The North Van Arts International Film Series is presented by North Van Arts in cooperation with the Toronto International Film Festival. Throughout the year a series of TIFF selections are screened at Cineplex Odeon Park & Tilford Cinemas for special one-night-only viewings. Established in 2003, the film series acts as a platform for unique cinematic experience, spotlighting quality Canadian, independent and foreign films.

Edge of the Knife is a feature length Haida language film about pride, tragedy, and penance. Adiits’ii, the lead character in the film, is mentally and physically pushed to the brink of survival and becomes Gaagiixiid/Gaagiid – the Haida Wildman. The Gaagiixiid is one of Haida’s most popular stories, sustained over the years though song and performance. This project is a community initiative with strong support from the Haida people as well as from the Council of the Haida Nation.

Set during the eponymous state of geopolitical tension following World War II, Cold War is a portrait of the complex relationship between two doomed lovers and their country.
