Parade of Boats

Born in Winnipeg and a graduate of Nova Scotia College of Art, Clancy Dennehy works in music, art, and film. Returning to his art school roots, Clancy is now creating art that reflects the richness of the West Coast finding beauty in both nature and our industrial history of logging and port activity. He also interprets our shared iconography including The Golden Spruce, the flags of British Columbia and Cascadia and the infamous East Van Cross.
This specially created collection, Parade of Boats, is a series of wooden half hulls representing ships, ferries and tugboats from early steam powered times right up to the present with the new LNG/electric ferry, the Seaspan Swift. These whimsical, yet recognizable hand-crafted models aim to draw interest and attention to the common ocean vessels seen in the Port of Vancouver.
For the past decade Clancy has led the East Van rock anthem choir, Clancy’s Angels as director and drummer. As a director of photography and filmmaker, his work has been broadcast and celebrated all across our continent. His latest short film, REZ CARZ, features an all-star native cast and was honoured by the Smithsonian’s National Museum of the American Indian.
