An intentional art exhibition by the students of Upper Lynn Elementary

In September of 2016, the staff and students at Upper Lynn started the year off on a wonderful note with The Kindness Project. They wanted their school to be a place where kindness happens every single day so they engaged with every single person in the school about practicing kindness. Each person was given an opportunity to represent kindness through art on a small wooden block. The blocks were decorated in the theme of birds for the artwork as birds are a symbol of peace, their singing shares kindness and the image of a mother bird feeding her young fosters thoughts of kindness. We also think of Cinderella and when no one else was her friend, the birds were her friends.

The students know that one person doing an act of kindness is contagious and that when you are kind to someone, you feel good and they feel good. Even people who witnesses that kind act also feel good and when we feel good we are more likely to be kind to others. With one act at a time, kindness has started to spread throughout the school. Kindness is contagious!
