About the Artist

CATHY RODDIE Cathy Roddie is a self taught acrylic landscape artist. Obtaining a distinction in advanced level art in school. This is a 2 yr. study that she completed in 1 year. Unable to go to art school because she did not have ordinary level math, a requirement in England, she resigned herself to become a hobby artist. In 1964 she married her Canadian husband Bill and immigrated to Canada. Raising 3 daughters and being transferred 13 times, mainly in Western Canada, she appreciated many different parks and beaches, but had very little time to paint them. Cathy started painting seriously after retiring from work. Learning from plein air work, enjoying water, rocks, trees and skies and the effect of light. First joining the West Van sketch club that later became the North Shore Artist Guild, she started entering shows. Later she was amongst the first to show at Painters Landing each summer. She has won and placed in plein air competitions and won her round at Art Battle.
