About the Artist
Celan Bouillet is a mixed media painter currently based in Vancouver, BC. Her upbringing in the American South influenced her love of spinning a good tale, textiles, and sublime landscapes. A graduate of the Maryland Institute College of Art, Bouillet is a Vermont Studio Center Fellow, a two time recipient of the Houston Artist Association Individual Artist Grant, and has work in permanent collections across the US including at the Bush Intercontinental Airport and MD Anderson Cancer Center. Her work has been featured in numerous publications, such as ArtMaze Mag, Create Magazine, Houstonia Magazine, and Houston Chronicle.
My work investigates ideas of home and our attempt to find our place in transient and surreal natural environments. These mixed media pieces are highly detailed and manipulate scale along with pattern to create complex narratives. Referencing folk tales, mythologies, and travel literature, my work blurs personal memories with fictitious histories.
