About the Artist

Coral Patola is the artist and maker behind Piton Pottery. Based on the unceded territory of the Líl̓wat Nation, known as Pemberton BC, it's here that Patola runs a private studio. Graduating from Emily Carr University of Art + Design with a Major in Illustration, they continue to work in utilitarian ceramics combining their passions for illustration and clay. Patola has exhibited juried works throughout Canada and the USA and is a member of the Potters Guild of BC, Craft Council BC and the Sea-to-Sky Potters Guild. The overarching theme of their work is the intention to instil mundane objects with mindfulness and attention. Creating utilitarian art that inspires people to slow down and appreciate the complexities and interconnectedness of ourselves and the outer world, spanning generations through materiality and form. Patola hopes to create modern heirlooms capturing the ephemeral presence of nostalgia.
