About the Artist

BIO Born and educated in the UK, Hans enjoyed drawing and painting from a young age. Travelling extensively for work to such places as Sierra Leone, Nigeria, Singapore, Saudi Arabia and India, there was little time for art. Then, following a visit to the 2009 Harmony Arts Festival in West Vancouver, he became interested in returning to painting. Many workshops and classes followed including joining the North Shore Artists’ Guild (NSAG) in 2013. Hans has exhibited and sold many paintings in the last 13 years, mainly through NSAG during their Winter and Spring Art Sales and more recently their online sales. He works mainly in watercolours and acrylics with some explorations into graphite and pastels. Hans really enjoys working in watercolours “en plein air” when the weather is favourable but also works from his imagination or photographs he has taken during local hikes and travels. ARTIST STATEMENT I very much enjoy the outdoors and I get most of my ideas from the open air. Living
