About the Artist

Jackie Frioud has been making salt-glazed, functional pottery for more than 20 years. Warm, earthy colours, compelling textures, considered contemporary forms and a sturdy elegance characterize her ceramic pieces intended for daily enjoyment. She has a BFA from the University of British Columbia, and studied advanced ceramics at Capilano University. Her work has been featured in Ceramics Monthly magazine and in the book Ceramics: Creative Adventures in Clay, as well as in shows in Canada and the US. She was a recipient of the Northwest Ceramics Foundation Award of Excellence in 2018. Jackie makes her work in North Vancouver in the winter months and in Desolation Sound in the summer where her specialized salt kiln is located. Cross country skiing at Hollyburn and kayaking around the islands of Desolation Sound inspire her work.
