About the Artist

Leanne is a Vancouver-based artist that creates using acrylic paint or found materials. Her source of inspiration is both the travel she has done and the local urban environment in which she lives. It was not until about 5 years ago that she seriously considered painting as a career. Though a History degree and more than a decade in finance might not be the traditional path to artistry, it has led her to the creative space she now finds herself in – creating paintings for exhibitions and producing commissions. Through her mixed media pieces, she explores her relationship with memory through energetic and bold mark making and forms. Each piece shows tension to be felt with a foremost feeling of resolution felt in the end. Strong, bold lines and shapes and supersaturated colour are techniques used. She is inviting the viewer to stay a while, really look at the art and see what can be found. Leanne’s aim is to capture fleeting moments that to someone sparks something magical.
