About the Artist

Maria studied Fine Art at the Slade, UCL in the UK many years ago. Since then there has been some exploring and living in different countries, finally settling for over 20 years in beautiful Vancouver. Her work gravitates around the struggles as well as the humorous aspects of living in this world, using photography and painting to ponder and reflect. Her work varies from detailed colourful, patterned images to the much darker and neutral paintings. Her new collection of photographs are from a recent hike on Nootka Trail and they seem to hold a brooding edge to them (these will be displayed in the Art Crawl) There also will be many painted bottles to see as Maria finds it hard to discard objects that have a creative potential. Maria creates gifts cards from her wide selection of photographic images which often receive many compliments. Maria's passions are taking care of her two boys, playing soccer, hiking, cold dipping, dancing and socializing with her friends.
