About the Artist

Michele (she/her) is a French Canadian visual artist living in British Columbia, Canada. Raised in a small Acadian village along the east coast of New Brunswick (Canada), Michele moved to Ottawa, Ontario, in 1992, upon completing a Master's Degree in Public Administration. Michele has been painting for 20 years, advancing her skills through a combination of course work and her own experience. Michele works primarily in acrylic and uses mixed media to add dept in her art. She is inspired by weathered façades, erosion, and landscape detritus that evolve over time. These remnants offer evidence of life, and tell a story through layers of history while creating infinitely varying shapes and textures. Michele interprets this natural evolution through multiple layers of paint, glazes, imprints and random lines and gestures. Michele’s work has been exhibited in galleries in North Vancouver (BC), Washington (DC), Bethesda (MD), Ottawa (ON), and in her Acadian hometown of Shediac, (NB).
