About the Artist

Monica’s highly textured mixed media artworks feature the use of sustainable natural paints-pigments, silver-gold foil, and sometimes man-made upcycled materials, resulting in a 3D effect inviting the viewer to touch them. To make the work even more distinct she incorporates soil or sand from the areas where she finds her inspiration. Her muse is the ocean, nature’s organic patterns and the colours and reflections on water during dusk. Something is intriguing and alluring about the way she uses metallic colors which reflect differently depending on the time of the day and the angle of viewing. This adds new dimensions not only to the artwork but also to the interior space in which the piece is hung. Her paintings do not represent an actual place instead they are an emotional response to her environment and convey calm and peace. Monica is represented by 2 private galleries and has a Master’s degree in planning, a BSc in Ecology and an Advanced Painting certificate from ECU.
