Dana Johnson

Visual Artist

Dana Johnson is a Vancouver-born artist. As long as she can remember she has been consumed by art. Earlier on she lived in London, England and this was when she got her first taste of European history, art and culture. She has travelled extensively and these experiences have influenced much of her work.

She decided to study fashion design and this was her focus for 10 years. She designed and produced her own line of clothing and sold to stores across Canada. She went on to teach fashion design and illustration courses at Blanche Macdonald Centre and sat on the Advisory Board for the Fashion Arts Program at Vancouver Community College for many years.

Eventually she pursued her passion in art and studied painting at Emily Carr University of Art and Design. She has participated in many group shows, had gallery representation and is an Active member of the Federation of Canadian Artists. Her work can be seen in private and corporate collections in B.C., Alberta and Ontario.

Over the years she has volunteered and donated her work to various art organizations and fundraising events. For 8 years she volunteered with the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Each year she would work with a group of children with Type 1 Diabetes and create an art piece for “Dreaming of a Cure”. It would be auctioned at their annual fundraiser “Rocking for Research”.

Her current landscape series takes you to a calm and peaceful place. It is soft with glowing light, natural energy and movement.
