Janice is a contemporary mixed media artist living in North Vancouver. Her studio is located in Welch Street Studios – an artists’ collective located at the base of Pemberton Avenue.
Discovery and risk-taking are an important part of her creative process. Her work often begins unplanned: a playful and expressive exploration of shape, line and colour.
Experimenting with ideas and materials, Janice moves back and forth between intuition and intention: a visual dance that is quietly choreographed by her design background.
The process of altering and adjusting – chaos and order – continues until the palnting tells her it is complete. She is interested in creating work that feels authentic and joyful.
