|My name is Justin Langille (they/them), I am a photo-based artist who recently relocated to the traditional territory of the Semiahmoo, Katzie, Kwikwetlem, Kwantlen, Qayqayt and Tsawwassen (in the place known today as Surrey, B.C.) from London, ON near the traditional lands of the Anishinaabek, Haudenosaunee, Lūnaapéewak and Attawandaron (in the place named London, ON today). Rooted equally in traditions of documentary photography and the complexities of my own settler life in the ecologies I dwell within, my projects examine transforming human-environmental relations amidst multiple crises in Canada. I have recently had the privilege of mentoring with Diana Markosian (International Centre of Photography) and Cristina de Middel (Magnum Photos). In 2023, my Polaroid project All of Yesterday’s Parties examining balloon pollution in the southern Great Lakes basin was funded by the Canada Council of the Arts.
