Kamila Bashir is a designer and educator whose practice is rooted in slowness, observation, and care. A recent graduate of Emily Carr University of Art + Design, she works across design research, storytelling, and material exploration, often drawn to the quiet intersections between people, place, and memory.
Originally from India, Kamila moved to Vancouver a few years ago, where the Pacific landscape deeply reshaped her way of thinking and creating. Her work is guided by an attention to detail- the weight of a stone, the curve of a branch, the emotional memory a material can hold. She believes in art as a way of listening, to the environment, to each other, and to ourselves.
In her teaching, Kamila creates spaces that feel calm, inclusive, and full of possibility. Her camps invite young artists to slow down, follow their curiosity, and engage with both natural and repurposed materials. Through making, she encourages children to build not only skills, but a sense of wonder, empathy, and connection.
