Katie Rodgers developed her artistic practice building upon experiences images and insights during earlier travels in South East Asia. The paintings consist of drawings and photographs presented in abstract form to suggest atmosphere and emotions associated with specific locales. Current works include a geographical series which attempt to convey climate, habits and geography through colour, depth and detail, employing mixed media collage and vigourous application of paint.
Katie has been experimenting with acrylics for several years, independently as well as in workshops in BC and Ontario. However painting became a priority in Montreal, where she joined The Longhaul studio artists collective. Katie is an active member of the Federation of Canadian Artists and has exhibited at North Van Arts’ District Foyer Gallery. Currently living in North Vancouver, BC.
