Born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, raised by my Russian/Ukrainian grandparents. My father’s side of the family is Northern Cree Native from the Lake Montreal Reserve.
I started my art career at the early age of 6 years by receiving First Place in the Saskatoon Exhibition Art Show for a drawing called “The Earth Fairies”. I continued to draw and paint throughout my youth. Midway through raising my family of five, I attended the University of Lethbridge and received my degree in Fine Arts.
For fourteen years, I taught art courses in drawing, painting, printmaking, clay, collage and video for the Allied Arts Council/Bowman Arts Center of Lethbridge, Alberta. Also for five years, I taught Design and Introduction to Art, both accredited courses, for the Lethbridge Community College. I have always been involved in community and art-related endeavours. My art was purchased by the Alberta Federation of the Arts in 1992 and I was a Canada Council A Grant recipient in 1997.
For 13 years I made my home on the Sunshine Coast and was active as an instructor for the Sunshine Coast Regional District and exhibited in various group shows. Now living in North Vancouver, I continue to pursue my interests in photography and various mixed media.
