As a child, I started with pencil, doing early line drawings. This progressed to pencil portraits and included detailed facial studies. Courses, painted landscapes and abstract art enriched my knowledge, along with books and magazines. Eventually, online instruction added to reflected study. I share studio space with a several hardworking artists, including a fine-art portraitist whose counsel has greatly influenced my work and skills.
Capturing evolving natural settings is a passion. I create hyper-realistic paintings that reflect indigenous flora and fauna to highlight the treasures. A career in Environmental Health has only furthered my determination to invite viewers to notice the raw, wonderful dynamics of Nature – from summer’s full bloom to the stark contrast of fall and the icy elegance of winter.
