I have had the wonderful opportunity to live in some very beautiful places, Grand Cayman being the last place, before moving to North Vancouver in 2000. On a grey day in November 2006, I was inspired to start painting some of my favourite places in the Caribbean, which encompass such bright and beautiful colours.
Since moving to the West Coast of British Columbia, I have embraced the lush colours of the stunning rainforests and coastlines which are my inspiration for this West Coast Series 2006-2016. When I put paint to canvas I am recreating a place in nature where I have been, forests that I have walked through and coastal shores that I have passed. This West Coast Series is a contemporary expression, with vivid colours and a whimsical interpretation of shape. When people view my art, they will experience through my eyes a place that I have been, while being transported to wherever the painting takes them.
Painting is a passion, and being able to share this passion is a joy. My inspiration has come from great historical artists like Emily Carr, A.J. Casson, and Franklin Carmichael. My West Coast Series; 2006-2016 represents places from Desolation Sound, Jedediah Island, Shannon Falls and the beautiful North Shore Mountain trails that I walk with my chocolate lab, Ruby.
