Growing up on Canada’s west coast, Shelley has had a life-long love affair with the mountains and ocean. This has led her to explore and paint some of the more remote corners of western Canada’s stunning wilderness. Finding the landscape’s moods and the stories they tell captivating, she sees her paintings of these special places as visual tales of place and a shared, candid, moment in time.
Shelley received her BFA and BDes from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design. It was here that she was first introduced to and fell in love with watercolour, which is still her medium of choice today. She loves the translucent lightness of it and how, when working loose and intuitively, its unpredictable nature forces her to own her choices and embrace the unexpected.
Shelley paints and lives in her hometown of Tsawwassen, BC with her husband, son and two dogs.
