Sue Daniel was born in Hungary in 1948 and came to Canada during the Hungarian Revolution in 1956. She now makes her home in West Vancouver with her husband of 30 years.

Since the 1980s, Sue has been under the influence of abstract impressionism, believing the axiom that “Art is a window into the soul.” Despite the varied complex relationships in her painting, the overall tone of her finished pieces always expresses feeling, soul and emotion through the use of bold colours and strong visuals to convey depth and mood.

Sue works in oils and likes the drama of colour which she uses to depict and reflect the underlying drama found in nature and emotion. Spontaneous and intuitive brush strokes – and a variety of knives, scrapers and custom made tools – give her work its unique quality.

Sue’s work explores the “control and chance concept” where the artist consciously drives the creation process while encouraging and exploiting the random wonders that can occur by taking creative chances. Each subject is discovered and rediscovered in the creation and recreation of the piece.

Every piece is a unique reflection of an emotion, a thought, a feeling, a passion that involves the viewer and transports them to a place of their own.
