Born in Richmond, I enjoyed expressing a talent for painting and dance in my early childhood days. My love for the arts inspired a career in Graphic Design and Visual Arts in the mid 1980’s.
Today my paintings record a history of the land, and sea to sky of beautiful British Columbia. Impressions of the seasons, life on the rivers, oceans and mountains are the inspiration behind my work.
I live on the traditional unceded Coast Salish territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səl̓ilwətaɁɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) people, presently residing in Brackendale with my family and a dog named Sami. Here I explore local lakes, mountains and trails, hiking, biking, and swimming. Life is much more rewarding, peaceful, and playful. You’ll see by the colourful renditions of a beautiful environment that shouldn’t be taken for granted but remembered and acknowledged.
It’s the adventure of seeing new places and recording a vision. You can see for yourself and explore with me on-line at the Polenova Gallery, polenovagallery.ca
