Victoria is a printmaker inspired by motherhood, local wildlife, and the botanical symbolism of the Language of Flowers. She grew up on Bowen Island & studied art & design at Capilano University. She lives in beautiful North Vancouver, Canada with her lovely Japanese husband and their two beautiful sons.
She transfers her illustrations to a lino block and delicately carves her design out. She rolls the lino block with archival oil-based ink and print it onto fine art paper with a small hand-operated printing press. Everything is done by hand from start to finish. For her symbolic botanical series, she inscribes each flower with its meaning at the bottom of the artwork. She finds beauty and serenity in the little imperfections of each one-of-a-kind print and, she appreciate the Japanese philosophy of 侘寂 wabi-sabi and how it is reflected in the slow-paced, handmade nature of printmaking.
